General
A: At Light, our photography pricing is designed to provide transparency and flexibility tailored to each client’s unique needs. We offer three main pricing structures: per session, hourly rates, and customizable packages. The cost varies depending on factors such as the type of shoot (e.g., portrait, event, commercial), the duration, location, and any special requirements like additional retouching or travel. To provide an accurate estimate, we ask clients to share details including the purpose of the shoot, preferred style, number of subjects, and intended use of the images. This approach ensures pricing reflects the scope of work and delivers the best value without hidden fees. For a detailed quote, please contact us with your project specifics, and we will be happy to guide you through the options that fit your vision and budget.

A: At Light, the duration of a photography session varies depending on the type of shoot. Standard portrait sessions generally last between 60 to 90 minutes, while more comprehensive portfolio or commercial shoots can extend from 2 to 4 hours to accommodate multiple outfits, locations, and creative direction. Sessions may occasionally run longer due to factors such as additional wardrobe changes, unplanned location shifts, or the need for extra shots to capture the perfect image. If overtime is necessary, it is handled transparently and billed at a predetermined hourly rate communicated beforehand. We advise clients to plan their schedules and wardrobe accordingly to ensure a smooth experience and optimal use of the booked session time. This approach helps avoid last-minute adjustments and allows us to deliver high-quality results efficiently.
A: At Light, we understand that photography sessions, especially weddings and newborn shoots, are highly time-sensitive and often cannot be recreated without significant impact. To accommodate this, we require clients to provide at least 3 days’ written notice for any cancellation or rescheduling request. If cancellation occurs less than 3 days before the scheduled session, the initial deposit will be forfeited as it secures your date and covers preparatory work. Rescheduling is available without penalty if requested within the 3-day notice period and subject to Light’s availability. However, if rescheduling is requested within 3 days of the session, the deposit may still be applied toward a future session but is not guaranteed until confirmed. This policy ensures fairness while respecting the unique nature of each project and the commitments we make to all clients.
A: At Light, a deposit is required to secure your booking and reserve the photographer’s time for your chosen date and session slot. Each deposit is different due to the nature of the session or amount of time that has been blocked and will be communicated within your contract. This deposit is due at the time of booking and serves to protect the photographer’s availability exclusively for you. Deposits are generally non-refundable because they block the schedule and prevent other clients from booking that time. However, if you provide a minimum of 3 days’ notice before the scheduled session date, the deposit may be fully refunded or applied toward a rescheduled session, subject to availability. Deposits are forfeited if cancellations occur with less than 3 days’ notice or if the client fails to attend the session without prior communication. Understanding these deposit terms helps ensure a smooth booking experience with Light and minimizes potential disputes.

Our standard delivery times vary by session type to ensure the highest quality results: for portrait sessions, expect your photos within 2 weeks; wedding sessions typically take 4 to 6 weeks due to the volume and complexity; and commercial sessions are usually delivered within 3 weeks. A: At Light, safeguarding your photographs is a top priority. After each session, all images—both edited and unedited—are securely backed up in multiple locations using encrypted external drives and cloud storage to prevent data loss. We retain unedited raw files for six months and edited images for one year, allowing clients ample time to request additional copies or edits. To ensure the long-term preservation of your photos, we recommend downloading and archiving your edited images on your own secure devices or trusted cloud services. Regularly backing up your files at home or through reputable services helps maintain the integrity and accessibility of your memories for years to come.
A: At Light, all photographs remain the intellectual property of the photographer, meaning Light retains full copyright ownership of the images. When clients purchase photos or commissions, they receive a license to use the images according to the terms outlined in their agreement, rather than ownership of the copyright itself. This distinction is crucial: a license grants permission to use the photos in specific ways—such as personal display, marketing materials, or digital use—while copyright transfer would mean clients legally own and control all rights to the images. By default, clients receive a standard license covering agreed-upon uses, but additional rights, such as exclusive use, extended commercial applications, or resale permissions, can be negotiated and granted through separate licensing agreements. This approach ensures that Light maintains creative rights and integrity over the work while offering clients the flexibility they need for their specific uses.
A: Yes, Light offers a growing client closet designed to enhance your photography experience by providing a curated selection of clothing in a variety of sizes and styles. This service allows clients to choose outfits that perfectly complement the session’s aesthetic without the stress of sourcing attire independently. As the client closet expands, more options become available, ensuring there is something suitable for diverse tastes and body types. Utilizing the client closet helps create a cohesive and polished final portfolio, making your photoshoot seamless and enjoyable.
